A few AD authors have had their pet passing away, some of age, some of illness, some still ailing, but all of them no matter what, were, are and always will be another loved member of the family.
The sorrow no more less that if it were human.
When a friend is gone there will be a hole
in your heart which will not be filled soon,
cos a pet ceases to be a pet when it becomes
a protector part of your life, riding shotgun.
I had a close call with my dachshund "Claudius" last week. I came home and he was missing. Searched high and low. Walked the neighborhood for 45 minutes. Nothing. Started slipping into despair. He's my best buddy. Then I thought, perhaps I should check the garage! Well, wouldn't you know. There he was eating me out of house and home. He'd scarfed down an entire box of oatmeal, a bag of pumpkin seeds and some sort of powder used for mixing drinks. He looked like Al Pacino in scarface with blow all over his face plus he was bloated out like a water balloon from all the god-damned oatmeal expanding in his tummy. A little rascal he is!! So glad to see him though. I don't know what I would have done had he not turned up.
They say that all dogs go to heaven. I hope they are right. I've never met a dog I couldn't fall in love with is short order. People, on the other hand, well, they are just not dogs, well most of them anyway. Love ya Georg, J'nia
Georg, I have lost a pet and know the feelings of loss. They are not just a pet but another member of the family. They become your best friend, always happy to see you! They can never be replaced but there is always more love to give! The hole is felt deep within and takes time to mend. Love, and peace always! ~ Chessly

I cry everytime I have to take the females to the airport to ship them back home.
...and my most recent guest I fell in love with her
and want her to be apart of my pack...so off to New York I will
go in June or July ($$$$$$) & make them a very hard to refuse offer :)
so in filling my heart...I know how empty it will be someday

Know how it is to lose a furry friend; lost three (all cats): two died (ages 10 and 18 1/2 respectively), and the third (which I adopted from the local pound in Ohio) was given away because I was moving to Texas; the pain was no less excruciating. I still miss "Friday", "Wheezer/Ouizer", and "Cajun" so much; there isn't a day where I don't think of them. And my sister's best friend recently lost her 12 year old kitty, "Midnight"; even though he wasn't my cat, I still bawled like a baby when I had to say goodbye to him. A terrible thing to endure; pets are definitely part of the family, as I have come to learn over the years after these cats "purred" their way into my life. Powerfully penned sadness, Georg; well done!

For some, the pain and sorrow is even greater than the loss of a human. They truly are a part of my family, and each one of them have been such loyal, devoted, life-long friends. I have many holes in my heart, and I've often wished that they could have outlived me.
