For John Donovan, my poet son.

Slip and forever
be lost the soul
that always had strength
yet no will to unfold?

Be patient, my child,
I believe in your star,
and I cherish the infant
and man you now are.

Consider the rose bud�

When we try to open
the fragile young thing,
the mess we create
is destruction foreseen,

but patience with God
and before our own eyes
the rose will unfold
with a will to survive.

The length and breadth and scope of your faith in God, and your veritable experience of life is awesome..
I loved that definitive line " But Patience with God "....key passage for me...
Having three sons by the Grace of God I can relate, each is different in his own way, but utterly unique before the eyes of God !
Great poem....you are better at these than you realise...:)
