Inspired by a song, this reflects where I have been but not where I am....

Poem Artwork

After the Rain

After the rain....

I thought I saw you
Chasing a rainbow
But it was only the sun
Slipping away
Into the pot of gold.

I thought I heard you
Laughing, hiding behind clouds,
But it was just the thunder
Bidding farewell
To a passing dream.

I thought I felt your
Whisper upon my cheek
But no, it was simply
That last teardrop
Falling from Heaven.

It slid into a puddle of sorrow,
Lost to rippled sadness.

I have never felt this alone...

After the rain.

oh my...this my dear friend, is something new...it has the textured imagery I have come to expect in your work, but there is something new...a different rhythm methinks. And I agree with Bill, the picture is perfect to accompany this piece.

Majestically penned in song it is the ultimate ballad, I am glad you said it was in the past because it gives hope to those who are feeling it now. Their is sunshine after the rain. Beautiful.

Your poem is terrific! ! ! But, first, where did you find that photo??? It is exactly the one to illustrate this poem. Thank you for knowing good photography, too.
Now, about the poem: This is one of those, you want to sit and re--read... over and over, hoping that the situation might change... that the one who feels these things so deeply, might rise up out of their slump in living. So meaningfully sad... in every context of the word. I can hear you reading it, and believe in you.
