spring comes in gloried song
but I, content to linger at winter's edge,
cannot embrace its glory
leaves of sadness glisten,
memories' dew clinging, uncertain,
seeking my acquiescence,
and my forgiveness...
I fight the urge to retreat..
to deny...to weep
and breath stills as one tear
escapes its memory,
hesitant, questioning,
to fall upon my heart
in silent reflection...
words echo within my soul
'remember to breathe'
soft whispers trace a path
of acceptance and I can
no longer hold spring hostage
nor demand its guilt
for my sadness
but a tear still falls
and spring still comes
in gloried song....
...perhaps this spring
I will hear it sing for me.

My dear Myrna. I couldn't fight back the tears after reading this one. I know you know why. The accuracy and power of human memory is uncanny. I think the last couplet foreshadows what is to come for you my friend and I love that you end this poem with such an uplifting message! Were those final two lines included in the revision?

Myrna, Your words and thoughts far surpass any I could pen. You gracefully take me to places I've been before but I'm not sure I want to reture to, chosing instead to put fears and hurt aside and embrace the renewal Spring allows. I realize yours are very different from mine and were I in your place in time, I don't know how I would respond...but for you I would wnt you to hear every note Spring has to give you.

Couldn't help but feel the intense sadness and sense of despair in this write, you captured well the longing and desire for things to be the way you would like them to be. Sweet and sad.

Sweet Myrna, this is indeed beautiful and over the edge of sadness, that holding on even though inevitable moving on comes slowly. Always your poetry flows brings me along with with each phrase, down the river of hope. Will spring ever come? "Remember to breathe," such a well placed practicality amidst the longing.
This poem is a beautiful concession to time... past loss and grief. How sweetly tender your words lay on memories. And now, they look forward to what living could bring from open expectancy!

May spring come in a majestic way to brighten your day,Softly done my friend,Loved it,
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
