One of the most magnificent sights to me is the awakening of trees each spring and the mighty oak is no less a joy to watch...
Majesty
Shaking off shades of winter
He greets another spring, another season.
Centuries old memories circle his waist
In ringed calendars and feet, overgrown,
Spread beneath the earth...outstretched
Arms tangle in moss drapery, touch
Neighbors with gnarled fingers.
Bayou winds blow, easing winter
Slumber, whispering, teasing his senses
And he is content in his oaken majesty.

I live among many trees and I love them all, though there is one special, very old olive tree that I call "my friend". I cannot walk by it without laying my hands upon it. Sometimes, I can even feel its "heartbeat" against the palm of my hand.
Gorgeous imagery, Myrna, as I sit here near the bay window in my kitchen looking out at a budding Maple I planted when my younger son, Logan, was born. It had given me great and colorful pleasure all these years. It's root system burgeons and has killed all the grass beneath and now it offers glorious shade. But to compare it to the splendor of a Live Oak...well, I must admit, there is almost no comparison. You do capture it's majesty perfectly.
Living in a land of forests I know well the image that this vibrant write delivers in bright colours of spring. Hope surfaces at last and despair from the last dregs of winter vanishes in those first small green buds to sprout from our living friendly giants.
Olly those who know and love the Bayou country should write about it. Your words put to paper do justice to this king. Thank you for introducing us to His Majesty. May his reign be long and healthy, bringing beauty and cool shade to his subjects and visitors to his kingdom. .

Myrna, this is an excellent piece about one of my favorite things in the whole world, the live oak, adorned with lovely Spanish moss. They are truly majestic and you have captured "his" beauty here well. I absolutely love it! Bravissimo!

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
