Another offering using my adopted form, tumbling tercets w/afterthought. This piece is inspired by those who face the dark times in their lives but somehow find the 'truth' to embrace the light again...)
Truths
how quickly life changed, faded to black in the breadth of just one heartbeat, just one whisper in
time, just one scream that died upon frozen lips... how deeply I fell within the depths of silent
despair and how sincere seemed the darkness, disguised as sympathetic arms... and how
easily did I grant our dreams instant death, flash-point burials for tarnished plans... how easily
I gave in to the numbing grip of loss and shudder as realization washes over me that I very nearly
gave up, very nearly paid the price for fate's decision.... but my stubborn soul could not, would not, let me
walk away from dreams that lived before the darkness, before life changed forever, before I understood
the absolute truth of being alone...but I have learned other truths too, other certainties... life does continue, there
are often no reasons why, and memories can keep your heart from breaking... and I began to see that shattered plans
don't shatter dreams, but their remnants, scattered upon the walkways of life, can pave new paths, begin new journeys,
and soar into new skies...no, they cannot bring you home to me but perhaps they can take me home just once more...
Just a beautifully penned piece. I love the style because it slides gently to te next stanza. There is no hesitation. Very nice!

The power of the human spirit and the ability to get up off the floor and stand up, after living through such a tragic loss, lives in you and in your poetry dear Myrna. Having survived the sudden loss of my own spouse, I truly appreciate this from you. -an inspiring write! Well done!

You captured the emotion of sadness so well that I hope you did not have to really suffer from such a passage of life.
dear lady, dear friend...you could have written this piece on a napkin with a jumbo crayon and it would still stand as one of your best...no...one of your top five pieces...and until you outdo it...this poem is now my personal favorite of those pieces I have had the pleasure of reading.
I am aware of where this poem came from in your life...but what you have done here is created a piece based on that time of your life, that touches others who have had moments...perhaps not dealing with what you experienced, but with moments similar...

I will not give this piece a list of adjetives only to say that THIS is poetry...and it is damned good poetry.
"Truths" - is an epic poem. It is so full of all emotions connected to loss. How well you state such truths, and within them, a strength to live and love family... and those who deserve your love. Reading this work, I became a part of it... and loved the experience.
