Held (the fertile soil beneath her)

Poem Artwork
After the storm,
when the ground had settled,
and sunlight was sending shafts of
warmth; a seedlings curiosity combusted…
.
Peering up from
quicksilver shadows, a
young plant began reaching
up for the basic elements of life…
.
Wishful of being whole; the seedling
gazed wide-eyed as two nurturing hands
reached down to work the fertile soil beneath her…
.
No harm, now, will ever befall me, (the seedling thought)
I am cared for and loved…
.
But at times powers will whelm you;
things you have no control over,
(someone interrupted her thoughts),
anger,
uncertainty,
soul-searching isolation,
the anguished miseries of
sudden calamities and heartbreak
trading one misery for another;
(beware of) beasts whose ravaged claws
scratch out pernicious footholds in the heart,
and of deception's poisoned WORDS
that spread honeyed lies,
to manipulate
to subjugate
to incarcerate
an ingenuous heart…
(Momentarily the voice paused)…
(Then began again) …
Avoid the rodomontade of poetic-pipers,
denigrating those extolling weightless love;
evil hawking its plans, slicing with razors the
flesh of integrity and honesty while uncertainty
rips at the etyma of innocence and faith…

But, DO NOT FEAR! (the voice said)
as scarred hands held the plant closer.
.
there is no
tempest that
will uproot you;
you are adored and
cared for. We will fight
for you, He will touch you
and stroke your leaves softly,
He will poke the dirt and kiss your flowers
and maintain the fertile soil around you,
and you will grow and become aware
of things you have never known
before. And you will always
smile after the storms
when He appears out
of the blue to be
with you…

So expressive! Very spiritual! Your use of words and vocabularic richness wraps my mind around so many facets of imagination and thought - I actually become somewhat afraid to wander trailing you Richard for each path unfolds great changes and depth that demand powerful spiritual and philosophical thought. This writing says so much good while contrasted with mounds of thorns of threats pending. I love this one. It is infested with romance because who could not find themselves looking for him coming out the blue to guard them - NO ONE.

and what isn't said here is that the more we purify ourselves the duster our bodies and souls are. Why? Because we do it consciously. And this contradiction moves us forward straight to our end; that's how it works, but. . . within the masses of our thoughts, there is a seed of spontaneous action -- the product of long-term cultivation. So, let the young plant grow, as the poem suggests. . . Cheers, alex

This is so beautiful to think of love this way. And communication sucks when people aren't actually communicating.

The main ingredient to your legendary poem, it says much about your sixth sense and all that it encompasses. Well done Richard, peace x

I maintain there was plenty said within the lines of this poem, enough so that she had the critical option of casting aside the bad and glorifying the good.

Most poignantly put. Caring for a loved one is the allegory presented in such a loving way that it reaches deep down to the root of things. There are vines that will wrap around a young plant and suffocate it if not pulled from their roots and cast aside.
