I feel your presence
my love,
tonight more than others,
standing hand-in-hand here
with me,
your souls scent, sweet and pure,
as we delight in life and the
life in us,
and oh,
this love we share of
nature’s beauty, taking in
all she offers before the gloaming
veils her in a darkened shroud…
.
Poised in sevenths and thirds,
twilight’s heart tones
brush the day’s memories
in shades of scarlet and lavender
.
Bequeathed as pearls,
amber dew and setting
sun extend pastel shadows
across the lakes mirrored surface
.
Around us, scrub-jay, quail,
sparrow, hawk, chickadee, and
mud-hen blend smoothly near the
water in a chorus of salient transition
.
Soothing our souls
natures nocturnal
cantatas wrap the heart
in a bliss of haunting harmonies
.
In silent serenity, we observe
as broadening shadows blanket
dry September grasses in a
slowly dimming shroud
.
Remembering sunlight’s
warmth, soaring affections
succumb to the panoptic
chill of eventide
.
When the threshold is at last crossed,
two loving spirits spread their wings together
and take flight towards an unsullied moon
.
I feel your presence
my love,
tonight more than others,
standing hand-in-hand here
with me,
your souls scent, sweet and pure,
as we delight in life, and the
life in us…

For without sensing, and the ability to articulate the magic of its essence, "and the life in us" renders those without this consciousness lost in a void of intellectual and heart poverty. So happy you have that. I can relate. Peace.
