Hey, I just turned 61. I can either laugh or cry and I hate tears. So let's make fun of it.

I Said Old!

Another year has come and gone and I am feeling older.

You say it is warm this time of year?

You didn’t hear me right I did not say am feeling colder.

If only I were young again, I would surely stand and cheer.

I don’t believe you heard me right.  No I do not want another beer.

My back is bent my right knee and left ankle aches

Whenever I try to climb up a hill

And by the time I get to the top, I’m out of breath for goodness sakes.

No my friend, you misunderstood; I have already taken my pill.

Last night I looked into the bathroom mirror to see

Someone who reminded me of my Dad.

It’s hard to believe that the man staring back was me

But that’s no problem he never looked that bad.

But oh, how the years have taken their toll

I don’t hear that well and have very poor sight.

Calm down, my friend.  Don’t get excited I said nothing about a fight.

I perceive that you and I suffer from the same affliction.

It’s called getting old.  It clouds our view yes, it curbs our passion.

Well, I cannot change what will be so I will simply accept my fate.

What?  No!  I did not ask you for a date.

Let’s just sit and reminisce about our youth.

After that we will simply accept the truth

WE ARE NOT YOUNG ANYMORE!

You have to be in this age range to truly understand. Very well said, funny but true!
I once vowed I would "grow old gracefully" never dreaming how hard that would prove to be. Some days take more grace than others!

Lew, a belated Happy Birthday to you! I'm not far behind you!

But older is better in many ways.....now, if I could just remember WHY

A fun...and truthful write!

Though the body lets us down, my friend, we are still young at heart! So we have senior moments! Guess what...it makes us laugh...and you yourself recently said, it's good to laugh. :) Enjoyed the read and a little more of you...

So, belated birthday greetings...and remember, you're not getting old, you're getting better...

God Bless
Lena

I think I'm beginning to look half more like my mother, and the other half more like my dad as everyday goes by.

Interesting write! ... and I love that funny picture!!!
