A man challenged me to make a poem using a platitude. I'll do better. Here are some of my favorites.
Platitudes
Words of wisdom have been passed down through time.
They may be often simply simple clichés and sometimes they rhyme.
One that comes to mind is one my mother would recite.
“An idle mind is the devils playground,” she would say and she was right.
Another one I remember is one that is tried and true .
It is one that can be a real challenge for me and for you.
“If you can’t say something nice say nothing at all.”
One thing I can say for my brother-in-law is, well, he’s tall.
Another truism which we all found to be a hard one to have learned,
“A penny saved is a penny earned.
A favorite of mine is, “a wise man knows how little he knows.”
Or, “we grow too soon old and too late smart.” That’s life I suppose.
