I woke up this morning and got up out of bed
My spirits were up because I had nothing to dread
The word UP is a useful word. You’ll find it comes up often for goodness sake
We use it to describe a sleepless night, one in which we were awake
The word is used at baseball games. The home team’s up to bat
The score is two runs to one. They’re up by one... like that.
The word up means flying high, active, in the lead or dressing up
Down means just the opposite. The person may wear a frown
That is because he is downhearted, despondent or feeling down
It also means our team is losing for they are down by two
It means a love gone sour which would make anyone feel blue
Don’t let life’s problems destroy you or let it get you down
Get back up, dust yourself off and work up the nerve to try again
If you refuse to let it get you down, sooner or later you’re bound to win
