A Refugee Girl is Laid to Rest in Afghanistan

Poem Artwork

Weep What You Sew

Life is a coat of tattered fragments,
that mother pieced with care.

Growing up was never easy,
with danger everywhere.

Although you learned your lessons,
your father wasn't there.

So they were lost upon you,
along with the burdens you bear.

You sewed together a patchwork,
of friends with which to share.

But the world came down upon you,
in a place you called nowhere.

And the weeping it was mighty,
and you cried, "Revenge, I swear!"

Got down on your knees a praying,
caught up in the snare.

That you were lost for trying,
your coat had laid you bare.

A sad write indeed, Ron. A tear-jerker for sure! If only we can reverse time to the very beginning, we might still be living in the garden of Eden!

God Bless

you've sewn together a poetic fabric of tears expressing the much too common travesty of "the world coming down" ...

Quite an extraordinary re-working of the old proverb--and so brilliantly applicable to life and death in this modern world.

How truly sad, for truly far too many.

My emotional weakness is the children born with an x on them from birth and no way to change fate. I cry everyday when I see this and also changed my teaching career because the government fails these kids over and over again.

Life is like a game of poker these days...
You never know when your time is gonna be up..
