A rather dismal reality, Ron, but one that certainly has its handwriting on the wall if we don't address and change our outlook on the issue of the population of the planet. I don't believe that killing off the weak is the answer, as we are, hopefully, intelligent, spiritual beings and weakness of the flesh certainly doesn't mean that these people have nothing about them that can be a benefit to humanity. The answer to the problem is one of education and one that in many cases will have to supersede the customs of religions and cultures that have been in place since the beginning of time. Perhaps the problem will be self-limiting in the long run, when pollution and a lack of value to our food will only allow the strong and physically evolved to survive.

hopefully, mankind will learn how to control its overpopulation and feed its starving before your scenario runs true ... i believe our awareness of this ever growing problem will eventually result in action ... only time will tell ... each couplet stands on its own and makes an important statement ...
An excellent poem Ron, but I have faith in Creator's plan and in the end He will put things right. Humanity is already suffering from the mistakes we've made and we may lose this planet, but God still has a plan for us.
I'm a believer that good will shall prevail, that all man will get his/her act together and if not...nature will have the final say. Desease, starvation and death, in our world, could be eradicated if we spent money to feed and house those needing it instead of funding war. Think about it. All the powers in the world, with an ounce of compassion, could elimanate this worldly problem and it could begin tomorrow. Thank you my good friend, for telling it and showing it just as shocking as it really is.

The issue seems to be a matter of chosen priorities since so much of what SURVIVAL indicates has been known for a very long time, but I'm holding out that the intelligence of compassion shall win out over an avoidable descent into cannibalism. While Debtors prisons no longer exist, many people continue to be persecuted for crimes related to poverty or inability to repay money owed to municipalities. This practice remains in an injustice that needs to be rectified.
