She's The One!

Poem Artwork

The One

When all is said and done,
you are the one.

I will lay myself down,
by the still waters of your soul.

So when they call the roll,
you'll be the one.

To soothe me when I'm sick,
to nurture me in health.

Be one with me in poverty,
and carry me to wealth.

For my wealth is not in possessions,
nor from gold in the Earth.

My wealth comes from your love,
that circles me in its girth.

I welcome you in sunshine,
I welcome you in rain.

I welcome you when evening comes,
with your sweet refrain.

For you are in my heart,
and you are in my soul.

You are the one I dream of,
you are my only goal.

So when our time is over,
on this mortal coil.

I will anoint you the one,
with the sacred oil.

I will anoint you the one,
and end your earthly toil.

Thank you for sharing this lovely "love song" which expresses much and awakens thoughts and emotions. I am happy to "say" that I can relate, Ron. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and peace,

a lovely tribute just not too sure about the last 4 lines. hmmm
'anointing and ending her toil'....puts dark visions of compassionately or not, putting someone out of their misery. hmmm

What a beautiful testimony of love! The One...
And we know "The One" when we find them, you write love prose with much beauty and feeling behind it. I do have to laugh about the chicken though :)

Lovely thoughts in your poem, Ron.
Regarding my poem, The Blue Vase, I wonder if it's because so many women work today and just don't have time for the paraphernalia of yesterday? Which is a pity.

I like the ending here, the last six lines. They carry it all past the 'here' to the 'beyond here'; and I read it that the 'voice' of the poem goes first to the Great Beyond, and receives the dedicatee (you) of this poem, which is the ultimate comfort, isn't it? ~~ Diana

Ron, you succeed in describing real love, love beyond the "I do" and "'till death do we part" love - you've reached into the applicable core values of, love - the "for you are in my heart, and you are in my soul" Rod Steward declaration of love - I wish you love and peace my dear friend - Jon Michael

The sincerity and beauty in this avowal is breathtaking, Ron. Makes standard marriage vows seem impoverished by comparison.

To soothe me when I'm sick,
to nurture me in health.

Be one with me in poverty,
and carry me to wealth.

... this is a love that supercedes "for richer, for poorer" indeed. Fabulous stuff and wonderful to share in. Bless you both! :)) xx

With relationship history filling books today, it's rewarding to read of one that is obviously of a transcendence only the parties involved need to understand.
