Well written Ron...someone said once "charity begins at home',I think if we all tried to buy from our local people and tried to take care of our own ...in our own lands instead of trying to import from foreign far off lands perhaps we each would do better...China seems to take pretty good care of itself and seems to put itself always first,that is why it gets stronger and stronger.It frightens me but I do think there is something to be learned from it...namely eat the fruit from your own home grown trees before borrowing from neighbours.The USA is still great but if it did fall...Australia (my homeland) probably would take a tumble too.

This is happening in Canada as well. Except here...there is not enough housing and the rental is ridulus. From what I am reading on FB and throughout the internet this is happening all over the world. We need change. We need to stand together and no longer allow for this in our countries. New types of government is needed all over the world. What is the answer to what type? I have not the answer but I will say if it comes to me the world will know about it. Thanks for the sharing.

Someone wrote somewhere that if one wanted to see an Ayn Randian dystopia at work in the world today, one needn't look any further than The Peoples' Republic of China. You've fleshed out that comment by bringing to it a humans dimension.

What a great ending! There seems a deliberate lightness to this poem which underscores the seriousness of the situation at hand...like a floating bubble about to burst, in more ways than one, as you eloquently demonstrate here.

Much Food for Thought here since we now borrow tons of money from China. And while they build empty modern cities, many of our cities like Detroit are being abandoned and instead of modern empty buildings, they contain block after block of boarded up old homes.

With most poems I would and do agree with Odin Roark. Reviews should concentrate and comment on the work at hand. This one is different. Spotting and analyzing a housing market bubble in China is an economic insight of major proportions. The fact that we are paying for it increases our concerns. Condensing these complex ideas as well as our own ignorance about them and China's arrogance in such an economic folly, while writing about it in poetry is sheer genius. Ron, if you never write another word, fear not. You knocked this one out of the solar system. Congratulations!

Why don't reviewers comment about the poem, i.e., the structure, the word choice, the rhythm, et al. Far too many readers merely throw in an opinion about the subject matter...their opinion. So, let's talk the poem. Here, unlike some of your poems, you've mixed the rhyme style with free verse and it works well, given the subject matter. For this reader the combination takes on the two (or more, for that matter) points of view: the opportunist and the victim. Weaving in and out from stanza to stanza there is this balanced POV mix that comes to a perfect fable-like ending with the Humpty Dumpty reference that serves as a potential omen for all to consider--to think about--hopefully, as poets, stimulate us to writer further on this subject of corruptive consumption for the betterment not of the many, but of a few financing and building them. (Of course, they must also take their loses with the rat infested vacancies as well. Richly done, Ron, in the truest sense of the word.

Think of it this way...if the falls, it would be one way for the U.S. to settle its already massive debt to China...then the whole world loses. 60 Minutes did a piece last Sunday on this very subject. Nice write.
