So many lonely people are chasing after rainbows and never getting back into life.

Lonely Hearts

-The Beatles-

So many lonely people,

in a world full of life.

So many lonely people,

filled with personal strife.

Afraid to face the music,

when the music's just for fun.

Afraid to face the music,

as though on the run.

They call it freedom of choice,

when they have no freedom at all,

they say they have a choice,

but they don't hear the wild bird call.

They are summoned by the cult,

of their favorite master friend.

They have succumbed to the cult,

and his twisted lies, no end.

Hollow, lonely people to no end,

searching for the promised land.

A horde of lonely people to no end,

never finding anything but shifting sand.

I am writing because this poem is getting a lot of misinterpretation. I find people writing about politics and blaming.

Actually, I was writing about poets who are trapped in their loneliness and write the same poem over and over, not knowing how to get out of their own self-imposed loneliness and back into the world.

Fifty years ago the Beatles noticed the problem and if you click on the title, Lonely Hearts, you will hear them singing their classic song, Eleanor Rigby, for their great movie, Yellow Submarine. Their attempt to "cheer people up" continued with Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, another song.

We have too many sad sorrowful people hung up on cults that promise they will lose weight, etc. We all need to get out there and help these people out by getting them out in the world that is really quite nice and not fall down into "them doing it to me" attitudes.

“All the lonely people, where do they all come from…?
All the lonely people where do they all belong…? (Eleanor Rigby)

Lonely desperate people succumbing to ‘the cult’
thinking this is the way out…only to be left
like lonely empty shells when they realise
they’ve been fed a whole host of twisted
Lies…sadly there was no Promised Land…

Progress??

Let us hope someone, somewhere can see a better way for this precious world of ours…HOPE…

A great poem Ron…

The poems says volumes of things. Yes, there are lonely people in many walks of life. Some have common goals, some do not. Sadly this world we live in today , does not have the freedom it once had. We are at the beck and call of those who really don't give a DARN! Many go through life with hope and dreams that are being thrown aside by the almighty politicans. ,,, YES , THERE ARE SO MANY LONELY PEOPLE . WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT? I personally believe in God and the power of prayer! It is awesome and helps!

There are many people with legitimate complaints who either can't or won't do something, anything, to make the necessary changes. Perhaps it's because they have not united with others of a like mind? It brings to mind the analogy that a single bee alone cannot do what a swarm together can do.

Powerful points for sure, Ron.

"They are summoned by the cult,
of their favorite master friend.
They have succumbed to the cult,
and his twisted lies, no end."

Those verses bring organized religion (of any kind) to mind for me. Think Catholicism (I was raised as a Catholic), Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism etc... Not for me, thank you although I do "talk" with God all the time. Love and peace to you, Ron,

Regis. 🍁🌳🌎🌼

This is a really good poem, very evocative. It speaks to the situation very poetically. Yes, very sad, but these are very sad times.

An awfully dreary dirge, Ron. Nevertheless, that horde of "Hollow, lonely people" does exist. Such a pity! I'm lucky because if I have one great blessing it's that I happen to enjoy my own company. Of course, many people who have come to know me find that hard to believe. But, that's not my problem.
Think funny and keep smiling!

Yes, my heart has been off & on lonely in my lifetime but then again I have found love and friendship even though it's only on the internet...AND Ron, thanks for anything you have said to me with regards my few, of late, meager postings, you are a good friend...-e-

People fighting to come to the U.S. and Canada, thinking these are the promised lands of the big apple. Little do they know that they are actually fighting to come into the country for slavery, working at minimum wages, slaving for what they believe to be a better life. Then centuries from now, history will repeat itself and we are to be blamed for their willing participation in slavery. Nothing has changed. All those willing souls still have the slave mentality.

To put it bluntly, everyone who is working is a slave of the government. We slave ourselves for the things that we can't take to our graves. Unfortunately, some greedy souls gold-diggers who don't know this logic think they are ahead of the games.

So true, all those pathetic people, crying protest in the name of freedom, the minority stealing from the majority the freedom to be healthy.
