Just found out that this welfare cheat can get hospice assistance from Medicare without being anywhere near death to do things like, "Take a trip to California." Don't mind if I will…

Hospice

Oh, give me a hospice where the buffalo roam,

and the big sky is o’er me all day.

Where angels on mustangs ride beside me,

and take good care of me in every way.

Oh, give me a hospice on a Caribbean Isle,

where tropical breezes lift me up all day.

Where angels dressed in bright colors,

bring me margaritas and favors my way.

Oh, give me a hospice in a castle in Spain,

where the wine is sweet and never a rains.

Where angels dressed as sirens reign,

sing my evenings away with soft refrain.

Oh, give me a hospice in the heart of Africa,

where elephants, lions and impala play.

Where angels in khaki carrying me forth,

on a litter while on wild safari all day.

Oh, give me a hospice ‘neath Himalayan peaks,

where life is rapture and the eagle above shrieks,

where angels in saris swat my flies away,

while squatting in wadis as if to pray.

Or, I could just stay quietly at home,

nevermore, this world to roam… Nah,

I'm getting out of this place soon as I can,

never to return to this shithole again!

Your description of hospice is so much fun, although I know in reality it's just the other way around. This is still a fun poem to read.

lol I love each hospice you mention here, sadly I visited a hospice when my dad died of cancer, and it left nothing for the imagination, I rather visit one of your beautiful hospices. I have enjoyed joining up with you in this great adventure of the mind. Thank you for your imagination and writing passion dear poet, be well, keep penning as long as you can :)

Now that was great. I too liked all the options other than the last one. Then again, if I was in hospice, the only way I would be able to do all those adventures is if some one took my ashes there.

Ron,

I hope you are doing okay. I don't know a lot about Hospice, except it's for folks with cancer. I hope that's not true for you. But your sense of humor does shine through, with not exactly humorous issue. May you be forever home and not have to roam there.

Have seen a few close family go through Hospice in the past few years. Their drugs seemed to give them the peace to free their mind from their bodies. Given space for all last dreams. Of course some of us would most prefer to die on our feet among our living dreams. But as you, Ron says; either way, by the time your body really fails one would just be happy to be free finally from the decay of our Life (and our world)

I've been to all those places, but never stayed in a hospice. Perhaps that's the way to go. Enjoyed this romp through paradise.
