We all need to learn from Henry David Thoreau.

Pondering

In the springtime, late-summer and fall,

I linger by the pond, pondering it all.

Watching how nature renews itself every year,

and then, marches through seasons clear.

With all of the creatures reaping the best,

of new birth, growth, maturity and harvest.

Before the cold winds of November blow,

in midwinter, most sleep beneath snow.

Those that don't, hanging onto life,

waiting for spring to end their strife.

All creatures, both large and small,

depend upon the pond for their all.

Many lessons can be learned,

Pond-side, pondered and earned.

For those that have or take the time,

the blessings are great, they find.

If everyone had a pond to contemplate.

Life would be so peaceful and great.

Ah, the pond, the blessed pond, where one can renew their spirit and ponder of life, and all its delicate intricate moments of life. Thank you for sharing this, as the weather gets warmer, I hope that is where you'll be beside the pond pondering anew, :) Have a great day Ron *

A lovely poem. There's something about nature that inspires us all and sets us pondering. This poem is a contemplation worth reading.

There's something about water, whether it be in a pond, the sea, a fountain, or sometimes even just a clear glassful of it, that can invite introspection. I'm sure there are theories both scientific and esoteric as to why that is so, but I believe it's because water is nothing less than elemental.

Well, I'm not as sure as you that; "If everyone had a pond to contemplate. Life would be so peaceful and great." I may be in the minority with this thought, but my sense of global life and its incessant ignoring of what's best for most and lingering with the dilemma of finding oneself the fuckee or the fucker. The pond, however, is a good start for those who give it no attention. I have a creek running through my backyard that affords me thoughts akin to yours with the pond. So, I'm not in opposition, just not sure it can make everything great. The poem, as a whole, however, works well. Kudos.

Homage to Walden, and still relevant. This poem is a meaningful metaphor, a pond that reflects our lives. Well done, and much appreciated.
