Ron, I like in your introduction that you are managing to keep your brain clear of irrational fear; because that surely is the most cluttery thing we do to ourselves, �stuff� our minds with wanting and not wanting �stuff� in the form of ideas, beliefs, and as you say �fears.� Just reading this wonderful portrayal of collectivitis, makes me want to downsize, nest-wise and thought-wise. My favorite two lines are: Overindulgence is nothing but stuff./Will we ever know when enough is enough?� Wonderful question, I love it! ~~ djl

My life is full of "stuff." Unfortunately most of it is used for replacing the "stuff" that I really want but can't have.

BEFORE I EVEN READ YOUR POST...I LOOKED AT THE TITLE AND THEN THE PICTURE, AND IMMEDIATELY....I SAW MY VERY NICE SIZED UTILITY/COAT/AND EVERYTHING ELSE... CLOSET. I'VE BEEN LIVING HERE 15 YEARS COME MARCH AND I HAVE NEVER CLEANED IT OUT! CAN YOU IMAGINE ALL THE 'STUFF' ACCUMULATED IN THERE...IT'S A LITTLE DIFFICULT ENTERING. I'VE GOT A FILE CABINET, AND HANGING COATS, THAT I DON'T WEAR, ALONG WITH BOXES OF STUFF, AND THE SHELVES ARE STUFFED...AND ...AND!!! HOWEVER....THE THOUGHT HAS ARISEN MORE THAN ONCE LATELY AND PERHAPS...JUST MAYBE, THIS POST WILL GIVE ME THE 'UMPH' THAT I NEED TO CLEAN IT OUT! THANK YOU, RON. Great poem on "stuff". I personally keep stuff to a minimum, in fact, I don't have any stuff. Having travelled and lived in many parts of the world since graduating from college, now that I am (partially) retired and (for now) US based, I still have very little but a nice view of the bay and a roof over my head, and oh yes, a desk and computer to write my poems. The rest of my "stuff" is in my imagination waiting to be set free.

Reading your "Stuff"

LOL I identified with the "Stuff" I have all over my house from years gone by. It makes you think about what you need to do, so it's not so hard on someone should you go to that sweet by and by. I enjoyed this and it brought it to my mind's eye, that I need to get rid of a bunch of my"Stuff".
Thanks for enlightening me to just start working on this when I think about it. hahaha

Physical and emotional indulgence, possessions without questioning their real worth or value. Indeed, when will we realise when enough is enough?

I am frugal, a child of parents who were children of FDR's great depression. I never purchased stuff I did not need, still don't. Superfluous is not in my persona.So your poem got my attention. The Joneses were not characters I aspired to be. So I had no desire to have anything they had.I know you will find a way of ridding yourself of that accumulated stuff in a sensible way.

Darn it, Ron. I was just about to add to my shirts. I want to live in a 29 foot RV but have enough 'stuff' to fill 5 houses. What a mess to have at my age. But, thanks, I didn't buy that shirt.

Oh, yes... the stuff collected is like a pandemic fear syndrome. We horde all these varied pieces of stuff for fear we might need them again. Seldom happens. You're right, stuff if just stuff.

We can get better at it though... at least I've found it true.
