Getting to know someone ...

Poem Artwork

I believe in candle-lit dinners
a fireplace, a bottle of nice wine
I believe in new friendships
that can last a very long time ...

Quiet talks, long walks
wishing on a star
knowing from within exactly
who you are ...

I believe in Santa Claus
and the fairy tales of my youth
my favorite T.V. Shows are,
'Days Of Our Lives'
and 'To Tell The Truth' ...

I like the glitz of Hollywood
even though that's not my style ...

But what I'd really like most of all
is meeting you in person
and chatting for awhile ...

"I Believe": Splendid, touching and cheering. Simple words, crafted sensitively. A poem that makes the reader think of moving moments in his or her own past and, above all, of moments just as good - many of them - that are waiting, some eagerly and others patiently, but that are all, each of them, yet to come. Most enjoyable.

Victoria, you have a very "soft" beguiling way of saying what you want to say. And I believe in many of the same things. Things of value. Really enjoyed the poem. If you have time, take a look at Long Gone Love and Willow in Authorsden.com. I think you'll like them. I'll be back-Jerry- Have a good holiday season!

Yeah, old fashioned hand-holding...fireside lounging with coco in the fall...driving through the autumn-flamed woods...wading beside the sea with someone as mysterious to you as the ocean's hidden floor...these thing seem to belong to a simpler better age. Thanks for taking me back there.

When all is said and done the simple things in life, too often abandoned for the glitz, are the most satisfying and fulfilling.

You have encapsulated this philosophy in this most readable and inspirational poem.

I agree with Horace (*Ars Poetica*) -"It is not enough for poems to be fine; they must charm, and draw the mind of the listener at will...."- and WE agree with you.
