While flipping through my scrapbook,
Just the other day,
I found again the gift-poem
Georg once wrote just for me;
He titled it A Hot Navy Brat And with his clever words
He singled me out
And blessed me
With his kind and quirky attention.
Not content to leave it there
He issued a challenge to others
To look me up and do the same
And our fellow poets came!
For days I basked
In accolades
Reading about myself,
All because Georg Mateos
Took a liking to me.
Now, without Georg, my days
No longer shine so bright
I write and I wonder
What would Georg think of this?
But that muse remains forever silenced.
I'll never know again
His particular brand of sageness
So I spin my dreams
And I write them down
While blessing him in return.
I remember Georg...he liked to poke a little fun at the things I'd written but it was all in fun...I really appreciated his presence on AD. Thanks for the reminder.
Cheers,
Dan
