The first time I saw you I discovered that heroes live in mild mannered news reporters. Unassuming, you were always there just in the nick of time to save Lois and the world.
The first time I heard of your Spinal Cord Injury, I figured your life was over. Paralyzed. Unable to breathe, because of a Kryptonitic break. Superman would die.
How wrong I was. I discovered that heroes fight. Mild mannered and unassuming. You were always there, just in the nick of time to save lives through spinal cord research.
That's when I realized you were Superman.
Run, don't walk. Jump. Take a deep breath. Fly! Just because you can. Because you will always be Superman to me.

Karla, this is a wonderful tribute to a terrific human being, who helped many try to overcome their own handicap. He will be sorely missed. I hope the bills that he helped create and are now out of committee, continue to be pushed ahead in his honor, and used for the sake of others who have been stricken with spinal cord injuries. It can also be used as some form of technology that will enable to help those less fortunate and it will continue the research he insisted upon. Excellent work my friend. Take care and be well.
Yes, Karla. My son informed me of his death, and now I've been hearing about it for the last two days. One thing I believe he showed us all is that you can't let your own pain/suffering get in the way of living with dignity, forging ahead, and treating others with respect. But also we must know he had an exceptional support system. His marriage was a testament to true love, wasn't it? Thank you for honoring him here at The Den.
