"I WAS FOUR YEARS OLD" (C) Copy written, 21 November, 2004 by Karla Dorman. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was four years old. I saw history happen. My first memory.
"...From Dallas, Texas.... Apparently official...." I was four years old.
I was four years old. Watching black and white pictures. Fuzzy, carried live.
A parade. Gunshots. Panic and screams in the air. I was four years old.
I was four years old. Miles away from Texas. Yet, I remember.
Cronkite saying, "...FLASH.... "...President Kennedy died...." I was four years old.
I was four years old. Why were there tears on his face? Why was Mom crying?
"There are bad people And sometimes, they do bad things." I was four years old.
I was four years old. Remembered like yesterday. A lifetime ago.
I WAS FOUR YEARS OLD.

really liked this nice repetition of I was four years old, using that as the thread linking all of the haikus together and utilizing historical and media references nicely done

This moment in time touched throughout the world in ways we will all remember. I too remember being young and hearing of his death and watching tv. An innocence was lost that day thoughout more then one nation. Great write.
That day will forever remain vivid in our minds. Mystery still surrounds so much of what happened, I suppose we will never get the whole story. It was a very sad day. I still recall sitting in front of the television and watching the funeral, from start to finish. Excellent writing, Karla.
Take care,
Sherry
It's funny that time can pass, and yet the memory of such a horrific scene unfolding is like yesterday. All these years later it is still a tragedy and it still hurts. A powerful write Karla - excellent format.
Powerful account of a time in history that will never be forgotten; I will never forget the sight of our parents or grandma crying as they struggled to make sense over what happened. A powerful memory that will forever be etched in our minds! Brava on a fine senyru chain; keep up the great work, Karla!
