... I wear it, anyway ...

Poem Artwork

Your shirt, wrapped
around my shoulders
brings little comfort,
because it isn't y o u r

arms enveloping me
in a hug.  I wear it,
anyway --- I am trying
to recall the sensation

of your big, strong arms
holding me close to you
--- I miss them.  Scared,
Daddy, scared that I

will forget --- help me in
order to remember ---
that is why I wear your
shirt.  It helps you help me ---

(((((Deeply touching and marvelously rendered.))))) By keeping the poem short and zeroing in on the shirt, you have managed to draw a picture that is both very real and impossible to forget. B R A V A, my friend, B R A V A !!! (((((X))))) Pea (((((X)))))

A lovely write that touches the core of love and fear. The shirt is a security blanket, something real to hold onto--but for sure you will not need it to remember your father. He will always be there as a part of you as long as you live.

The Christmas after my Mama died each of my children were given something that my mom made, or that was hers... They all love wearing those articles of clothing, as it helps them feel close to her again.

I know it helps me too... cuddling under the blanket she stitched for me with love...

((((( Karla )))))

I just understand this feeling so well!!!!! This one is the same feeling as my poem "Daddy's Sweater". I wore my Dad's sweater too after he was gone!!!

Take care and be well!

It's okay... I still wear my mama's sweater-- still smells like her a little (is it sick that I haven't washed it in over a year?!!)

Take it slowly. --Charlie

Karla~

You will never forget those big, giant-sized bear hugs from daddy; I know I won't. He was a world-class hugger, and when you wear his shirt, he will be hugging you. Try to remember that. Powerful emotions coming from the heart; daddy is looking down on us with love and pride in his heart for us, his children. He is now at peace, and one day we will be reunited. That is a promise, and we must hold on to that and believe.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sister, Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <

You will never forget him Karla so don't be afraid of that. My father's been gone since 1995 and I can close my eyes and remember everything about him including his hugs even more than in the past. It just keeps getting stronger. You Daddy will be with you always. Love, Bonnie
