Heaven's gained another
soldier, one to join his
brothers. All five served in
the military, all
at the same time at one
time. They served with honor
and pride; they all came home.
One had three ships shot out
from under; one was a
prisoner of war - hell on
Earth. Over the years, they
died, one at a time - and
now Heaven has gained the
last brother - my Daddy.
They follow new Orders:
they're Heaven's Honor Guard.
Karla, I love the theme of this poem. What a cool thing... I thought the poem would be about the Honor Guard giving a 21 gun salute at his funeral maybe... so I was surprised at the actual meaning. What a great way to think about your father and uncles!

Beautiful and loving tribute and reflection of a righteous pride and admiration. You bestow the honour back to your Father, Karla, and we can see the fabric of his strength in you. Many times of such consoling reminiscences will colour your life afresh, I'm sure. The death of my Mother, whilst of course very sad and grievous, was also filled with the luminescence of refined memory and it was a time of great consolidation.
