Inspired by Charlie's 'Mom: All of Her that Remains.'

Poem Artwork

lingering in the air, in
closets of memories,
g.hosts,

inviting you to take a
step back in time, with just
a sniff ---

[furniture polish spiced
with kitchen smells and
l'Air du Temps --- Mom]

18 years ---

[cigarettes and fresh-mown
grass and the sweat of hard
work, no play --- Daddy]

this past may ---

remember??

{their fragrance lingers in
the flooded front room of
my eyes}

how can i forget?

Isn't it odd how we remember all those little things that weren't important then, but are now--they represent something to hold onto in memory. An interesting write and a nice tribute.

Old-day scents trigger memories...mine's bay leaves, rum, Old Spice, Jim Beam, sandalwood, nag champa, musk, patchouli, eucalyptus, horse linament, fresh-cut alfalfa hay, cinnamon, sage, wild cannabis, and lavender...olfactory, where would we be without the sense of smell! Scratch ' sniff reminiscence, Karla...be well you and Karen Lynn...
