I miss my big, strong Daddy. Has it been six months, already? Seems like yesterday ...

Poem Artwork

under the velvet expanse
of sky, i sense him in the
darkness, eyes g.littering
like the meteor i just saw
streak overhead.

he sends me pieces of
himself, to wear on my
soul, put in my heart --
and i can't bear to throw
any of them away.

It will always seem like just yesterday Karla. That's how memories are and should be. They are what keep us strong my friend. God bless.

I'm nearly 76, now. My father died when I was 4 years old. I have only a few memories of him, but each is a treasure in my heart.

Love and memories are true gifts from God that can never be taken away.

Thank you for sharing your precious gift.

Richard

six months for you Karla, and eleven months for me -- when our fathers pass away, they leave a big hole in our emotions and our hearts that can't be filled -- "and I can't bear to throw any of them away" -- peace and much love to you -- JMW

I too often FEEL under the shining stars out in my driveway, a greater hope of communing with my lost loved ones. I'd like to think it isn't illusion. And I'm glad you used that simple child-like title....

It took me almost 20 years to throw things away that even belonged to my dad, but I finally started to do so...an old craftsman drill, an old blanket, & like that, but to tell you the truth, it was not an easy task...Ed

No matter what, fathers will be around for their daughters long after they are gone.
Mothers have a special bond with her childrens, more emotional, nearer, more expressive...fathers, in silence, just love. Forever.

Starry-eyed memory gazing, dressed up in a patch-work making of your daddy's ghosts...

Karla, this is beautiful! Now he can see the meteors without any obstructions/distractions! He's watching them with God; he's got the best seat in the house! :) Very well penned; love the bolides! Cool.ness! :)
