you make a great point Karla, but we better hope Obama can make things better. And here's a fact, black men have been beaten thousands of years. Now a half blackman is in the white house, a white house setup for white males in a racist azz country. I was surprised he even won the peace prize, must less doing something about this crazy racist azz country. As an outsider - this isn't the first time I've said this - I feel obliged to steer clear of your national politics but I admire how well you articulate what you feel and how you read your own country and its workings and issues.

Karla, that pretty much sums it up for me. I was not nor am I now a Bush supporter. But I also have a huge problem electing a President and awarding him a Nobel Prize based on promises instead of a track record.
I hope that he does well. I hope he turns our country around.

I'm not religious, but when I was a very untalented, unwilling care giver for my wife, I had really terrible thoughts about her and how I wanted this to end. My brother, who became a bit a Talmud scholar asked me, "Do you do what you can to help Maxine and to make her life easier?" "Yes," I said. "Then," he said, "remember, it's not what you think but what you do that God considers." I would imagine that the Nobel committee should have at least a shadow of that theory: It's not what you start but what you finish that counts! And so far as I'm concerned, Obama has done nothing! Are you attributing our divisive state to this president? Others have been awarded the NPP based on similar reasoning. Division comes from being closed off in your own little world of limited ideas. Open up. Someone once said it best: be the change you want to see in this world. Political poetry does not help.

I want a Pulitzer for what I might do… I’m going to write a book on the downfall of the American constitution that began in 1788. Sorry, I was sidetracked. Many Nobel Peace Prizes have been given on a similar basis. This is not new. I don't think he deserved it, but I’ll also not let my general dislike for his policies destroy my knowledge of history.

He gets a Nobel Prize for what he might do. We get thrown in jail for what we MIGHT do. Interesting world we live in.
You make a great point that as a Canadian neighbour, I am still failing to see what he has done to win this prestigious prize that so many deserving men and women were looked over for.
People obviously voted with their hearts instead of using their brains. Why he got the prize is something I will never figure out or understand. You're right when you say "we as a nation have never been more divided." Seems everybody is against each other and is easily offended. Well done; brava!
