I mark another year without you.
Three years --- has it been that
long, already? Seems like only
yesterday when my brother
called, telling me the news that
you had died. My world ended:
You were my big, strong Daddy.
Thought you would live forever.
I'm making it, but it's been hard:
there are days I want to call you,
hear your voice --- hear you say,
'I love you.' All little girls need to
hear that. I'm still your little girl,
one with a Daddy-sized hole in
her heart, one that can never be
filled. You are very much loved
and missed by all who knew you.
Hero. Husband. Father. Friend.
Your loving words show that he remains as close and alive in your heart and mind as ever, Karla. And it will always be this way. Even though visibly absent, he is tangibly and spiritually ever-present. And will always be Big Strong Daddy to bring comfort to you still as you tune in to the ways in which he still speaks to you. Bless you in your needful grieving. There will come a time of peace. xx
Our big, strong daddy still lives in us; we can remember him with love and fondness for the joy he brought into our lives. He was a true American hero because he served our country, as did his four brothers, and it is because of people like them that we are free today. Wonderful tribute to a great man in our lives!
