Happy Father's Day to my big, strong Daddy. You are deeply loved and missed ...

Loretta Lynn said that 'They Don't Make 'Em
Like My Daddy Anymore.'  And it's true .  Mine
was the best Daddy a child could ever want.
He was strong.  He was tall.  Built like a tree.

He grew up during the Depression; he was
used to going without.  When his Dad died,
he helped his Mom and five brothers and
two sisters eak out a living with very little.

He met the woman who would become his
wife, and then went off to war (following in
his brothers' footsteps).  He served his
country honorably during Korea, came home

and became the father to five.  He raised
them in a loving home, took his mother in
and took care of her, all while working long
hours to provide for his family.  He was

generous with his love.  He didn't just say
it, he showed it in a thousand little ways.
He told the best stories.  He didn't know a
stranger.  He saw his children go off on

their own.  He expressed his pride in all
of us.  He buried his wife, remarried, lived
the good life.  But then, he passed away ...
been five years.  He is deeply loved and

missed.  Every little girl needs her Daddy,
to hold on to, to hear 'I love you' one more
time, to just be there.  I wish he was.  And
you know what?  Loretta Lynn was right ...
