For Jessie

Poem Artwork

It lay there,
A snake waiting to strike.
A cloverleafed entrance to 70 mile an hour traffic.

The rain,
Heavy this morning.
Cold front coming through,
Squeezing moisture from the warm Gulf air.

A young mother,
Tired from a long Holliday week.
Two precious angles strapped in behind.

The standing water,
Loss of control.
The SUV....The crash.

Little seen or known,
Her Nanna was watching from above you know.
God said "Help them Nanna."
It's not their time to go.
Nanna reached down and protected them,
From something that just might have been.

2010 Walt Hardester

A Wonderful thought...how many times this seems to be...

Divine intervention. Providence has the omnipotence and makes the call. Nanna was apparently the messenger sent. A touching story Walt. In April of this year, a commercial truck failed to yield right of way in a merge area on a busy section of highway between Annapolis,MD and Baltimore,MD. The truck slammed into the driver's side of the car I was driving. Driving me into slide with a flat left rear tire and broken suspension from the impact. The posted speed limit in that area is 65 m.p.h. I did not have a scratch on me. The car was a brand new 2010 model and it was totaled with more than $20K worth of damage. The door pillars, the B- pillars were crushed in to within a fraction of an inch of my left temple. Luck, fate,my father looking down over me with God's instructions? Your poem hits a special chord with me my dear friend. I am thankful to God to be here. I bid you love and peace. Jon Michael

Walt, I am so glad this story has such a wonderful ending, it breaks my heart this time of year to hear of tragedies such as this. As Santa I often see the results of them...and when I do it takes the heart right out of me.

Whoa there, what a surprise! With your title "Nanna Reached Down,"
I was thinking: "OMG, Walt's got a new girlfriend that knows how grab your attention, or grab something." But considering the wonderful holiday season we've just begun, you've exposed my lack of virtue even as you share with us a benefit most of us enjoy but seldom recognize as we now must acknowledge that life without a Guardian Angel is a whole lot of risky business.

Great job, Walt!

Richard
