The light donkey brigade! Some General or whatever proposes using donkeys in the field to fight the Taliban, while it might be a succesful adventure for the strategy, it again is a sore and blight on how we treat innocent animals, they did not ask to be part of any of this.

The donkey trek,

Air-conditioned tigers, tanks that is,
Have heavy armour,
But donkeys are amiss,
For their bodies are much warmer,

Riding on an ass or donkey,
Getting heat from down below,
While cool on top is wonky,
Not only that, they’re slow,

Now any Afghan much time he has to shoot,
Such a target couldn’t miss,
Shoot the donkey just for food,
Our brave, the ground would kiss,

There then in the heat he’d lay,
Waiting for an ass,
To pass his way,
Or a tiger tank would pass,

Come on now, what heartless rube,
What donkey brain did think that fair?
The brave and donkey dupe,
Not to beast or man is fair,

Two million for a tiger paid,
A fearsome beast for fight,
To trade it for a donkeys gait,
To Taliban’s delight,

Think the unpaid beast might balk,
As ass and donkeys often do,
Often would the soldier walk?
Sore heel and battered shoe,

I can imagine that the end of day,
Sore asses all around,
From man to beast say nay,
For neither one be found,

For one I’d have compassion,
For the other not,
If you fight with passion,
Shit, or get off the pot,

Not draft an innocent creature,
To do your dirty work,
Fighting not his feature,
For some General” Dork,”

Let horse, and ass, and donkey too,
Or dog, or dolphin live,
For this job they not did sue,
Or their life to give,

All is fair in love and war,
So I heard it said,
It be best by far,
You did your own instead,

Leave little critters out of it,
Or join the Taliban instead,
They don’t, for critters give a shit,
With them you lay in bed,

No pay they get or pension too,
Just your abuse and pain,
Too bad they can not sue,
For this is sure insane.

If only all of mankind felt as you do, my friend.
