They, looked like me,
And sure enough, so they were,
This my friend, was hard to see,
At first, I did not care,
But then upon reflection,
Some solemn eyes to meet,
And some introspection,
My own soul I did greet,
Though upon myself that burden,
To mingle, and hold my say,
To lift that solid curtain,
As hound, at them would bay,
How could you hurt and harm,
These creatures of the sea,
Not heart I used, nor charm,
But still I saw, it’s me,
My heart in hand I walked,
Among the brooding crowd,
As I shouted while they talked,
Whom I was, and all about,
A tear I see, washed from a heart,
A heart as mine, that did not know,
Our minds, were far apart,
As sinew from a bow,
How can you, did I ask indeed,
Such cruel trick to play,
On such creatures sweet,
On God’s earth, barely a week or day,
Mine are in a crib with eyes like theirs,
One of them relented,
To this cruel world they’re heirs,
Their life’s I have defended,
It’s me or them, what can I do,
They love theirs, while I love mine,
Is this not true of you,
Would an honest answer me decline,
Have I a choice, please say,
Killing baby seals, their kin,
Have I another way,
Instead to steal their skin,
Some are killers that’s for sure,
And they’re among us now,
For killing is their lure,
They are like us somehow,
Does this make it right I ask?
No he say’s, ashamed he’d hang his head,
We’d rather do a different task,
Be kind like you instead.©27/03/2010

You are a voice calling in the wilderness, Jasmin. This is far from the stewardship I have seen the best of farmers take with their animals, and far from the regard we should take for fellow creatures. Thanks for continuing to speak up.........Jerry

Such actions are witness to the fact that humans have not evolved very much at all over the millenia. Thank you, Jasmin. Love and peace,

Jasmin a sad and controversal write. For the seals have no voice... Surely you are a voice for them now... Very touching indeed...

Cruelty...I wonder where it manifested itself first. Was Cain's clobbering Abel? Was the first fish taken out of the water for food? Was the lambs?

Men always think that the world and its earth only belongs to them; but not other creatures. It's sad!!

You are thankfully tireless in your pursuit to end cruelty. Hang in there. Liz

Jasmin,
I've missed your strong, caring voice and your compassionte spirit; never give up, never, your voice counts, it speaks the truth, it just might make a difference, it certainly does to me. Once again, in solidarity...and good to see you back.

John
