Your cry is heard Jasmin, though sadly the roar of the crowd has many decibels in its favor. I find no pleasure in competitions involving animals, with the exception of dog shows, dog agility competitions, and dog long jumping (into pools. It's time we stopped cruelty for the sake of entertainment

It sadly seems to me that this cruelty is woefully on the rise, from huge dog fighting enterprises, to million dollar horse racing corporations, to shooting down wolves, bears, and coyotes from helicopters and planes 'for sport,' to the many youngsters today who claim they now torture and set on fire dogs and cats, because they are 'bored.'

God Help Us All, and The Far Too Many God-Given Creatures that We Now Abuse, for 'Entertainment.'

Would it not be nice if we could learn to extend love and compassion to all living creatures instead of thinking up ways to use and abuse. Fantastic writing from your heart...

John, I was no better than you, though I always loved animals, it takes time for rebellious youth to learn. It is with regret that I see a Prime Minister, and leader of the oppostion, garnering votes on the backs of animals, you'd think them having grown out of their childhood, and would as national leaders not promote such events,but guide our youth to different and more enlightened avenues, now that we, they, know better. All of us that have grown up, and care, and have a sense of responsibility would also do well to pass on what we learned by our mistakes. When I pass what seems judgement on such things as cruelty to animals, it is not to gratify some sense of being better, but hopefully encourage others ..............
So here is to you an honest and open heart, for you are helping me to carry on, what I think to be a worthwhile effort.

I must admit to you, Jasmin, that in my (relative) youth I used to attend the bullfights in Madrid regularly; today, I wouldn't go near one and can't bear to think about it never mind watch...and rodeos and hare coursing bring out the worst in me, too. By all means torture ourselves if we must but lay off the animals.
