A new Holiday passed in Parlaiment.
A different point of view, from an animal rights activist.
To some a life is a buck or two, especially, if it’s only, a deer a ewe, a beef, a chicken, a swine, or cockatoo, not to mention all the others that are our slaves in circuses or zoo.

Hunters and trappers a Holiday,
Suffice it to say,
For sport it wasn’t done,
Just because you had a gun,

It was serious survival,
On white man’s first arrival
And bullets being dear,
First shot, that killed the deer,

Even trapping, so very inhumane,
First for survival but a bane,
For dress of winters cold,
For young as well as old,

Being comfort what it is,
And nourishing their bliss,
For coffee tea and flower,
Raped every critters bower,

Fur trapping now, was gold in purse,
And every little critters curse,
Such suffering they had never seen,
Such killings, not ever been,

Muskrat, beaver, bear, and what,
Death, undeserved, is what they got,
Ravenous the killing spree,
Hide for Europe’s, aristocracy,

With money plenty in the till,
More fun, became the kill,
More money could be made,
Should we, not celebrate this date,

We call it, hunters and trappers day,
Proud we are, of our past, Olay,
Strange the monument we do raise,
To such barbaric days give praise,

Instead for sins that of the past,
Omission of compassions cast,
A statue bronze for all to see,
New ways for us to be,

Pride in slaves, that critters are,
Far too many still by far,
Should we not, for all the dead,
In shame, still hang our head instead?©02/12/2010

Hunting under the guise of culling the herd for its overall health because of overpopulation. Yeah right, because we killed all the predators. Lunacy. Maybe somebody should hunt and trap the Parliament. Now that would be a holiday to celebrate. Patrick

It's a long history of cruelty for profit, of exploitation and carelessness and giving ourselves rights we don't have.
Again, Jasmin, your noble heart is here for all to witness.

Well I can't do the vegan thing, though I eat very little meat, but I have to agree with you on this one...ed

Should we not for all the dead
see what's on our plate
stop the cruelty of blood being shed
take a vegan pledge this date.

This is extremely powerfully written, Jasmin.
It comes from deep in your heart and is expressed with oceanic compassion for the animals.
Bless you for continuing awareness,
Christine

To some a life is a buck or two

From all the horrors that I so sadly see today, I'd say for Many, a life is only a buck or two. And that very sadly includes their fellow human beings.

For supposedly the most intelligent species on this planet, we horrifically have not learned very much at all.
