Living in the "NOW"

Poem Artwork

Coming together, friendly the weather,
Just a sprinkle, unlike the weary look above,
The anxious minds, the black clouds, above our heads,
Shall we take the time we have, untie a daily tether?

Uncertainty, expanses, looks, there a shout,
A squirrel, there a deer it prances,
Teenage boys, laughter joy,
Longwinded talks on winding trails, pooches chasing all about,

We’ll, I said, I’ll save my nuts today,
The squirrels they all ran away,
Instead today treats for my two visitors, my friends,
For hours they did run and play,

Chickadees, nuthatches, and all my other winged friends,
They too, their treats they wanted,
Flew as always to my hand,
More and more at every bend,

Clouds drifted away, sunshine on wings,
My little ones came by the hundreds,
Anxious for to stuff their winter hideaways,
For much, much colder days the winter brings,

The downy with an injured foot,
Wasn’t sure that if she should,
But as old friends for years,
She finally came, I knew she would,

My eldest now, she stood in awe, sunshine in her face,
Can’t I try Dad, and the boys too?
And sure enough, smiling faces, uplifted by little wings,
By beauty and togetherness, that all was in this very place,

All of the world now bigger, and smaller, all one soul,
The breath of happiness, angels flying all about,
Outstretched hearts and hands, sharing the universe,
Of giving and receiving, big, and small, made all the world now whole,

A big hug and a whisper sweet, “I love you dad”,
Another angel treat, and some big lugs leaning over me,
Smiling, happy, such nature brings together,
Suddenly, the daily life we fudge, less sad,

Eyes meet, soul talk, we are one the same, you are all and me,
They are us, all of us, just now God we’ve seen,
The great creator in one place, in this little space among us,
Among all our hearts and souls, that He, in our eyes did see,

Together all, birds, pooches, rivers, trees, green grass, humans all one,
Eyes, minds, hearts, thoughts, appealing higher,
Happy beings wandering in Gods universe,
Was it a different place, a different time, how long were we gone?©04/12/2010

Quite a day no matter what or where. I took the dogs to the dog park today to frolic amongst their friends. Such fun to watch sweet souls at play. Patrick

You have vividly awakened memories for me, Jasmin; particularly I remember my father saying to me when I was a young child, "Stay in contact with nature and you shall stay in contact with God." Thank you for sharing these inspiring verses, Jasmin. Love and peace to you,

Regis

An ode from a poet in touch and with the sensibility to know and feel what's right and good and joyful.
Yes, Jasmin!
