I went upstairs with a pen in my hand

To look for a pen I thought was upstairs.

This move – I must admit – was not well planned,

‘Cause I keep all pens in my desk downstairs.

I stopped on the landing, looked at the pen,

The one, which I thought, should not have been there,

Sighed a deep sigh and said: ”Damn it old man,

What’s happening here is a sad affair”.

My wife said I had a memory lapse,

Standing upstairs like a sad cucumber

And I would admit to such handicaps,

But honestly, I just can’t remember…

p.s. I meant to post this verse last year, but I could not remember where I put it… or that I have actually written it…

(There is some compensation for getting old, but I can’t remember what they are, except, perhaps, not remembering or not acting my age…)

LOL! I know the feeling and I'm thirty-three...I'd hate to see the future of my memory! I will be at work at the bookstore and start walking down an aisle for something and have absolutely no clue what I was looking for! Makes you start to wonder! Enjoyed this:)

Hi Peter:

Not to worry. This also had happened to my grand father too. He had the elastic band on his wrist, and was asking me where was that elastic band at the same time. :)

I found that strange in the beginning, but later thought it was normal as most people at his age did the same thing.

He was in perfect health.
