Hanging on by a shoe string your pain is sincere
is it rain or tears that I feel coming down my face
what shall I do
what shall I do with your shoes now
shall I put them out in the sun like you always do
or lay them by your bed
Shall I clean them for tomorrow
maybe you'll feel better
maybe you'll want to go for a run
will you be running away from me
shall we travel to Egypt together
shall we watch the sun rise over the Jordan
shall we meet the miracle worker
will he take away my sorrow
drive away your fears
will he hear my plea
for I am tired and weak
Am I strong enough for you
am I strong enough
why are you holding on
is it me you're waiting for
are you waiting for me to tell you to let go
are you waiting for a bye-bye
no, don't I'm not strong enough to do that--not just yet
you can give me all the rain and tears
take away my miracle
but please don't ask me to say goodbye
Finding such poetic sincerity in such a trying time is a precious gift Bernice. Such honesty here, honesty that touches the deepest parts of the heart. Kudos!

Bernice, you have ne in tears....A heartwrenching poem, yet the love for your father breaks through like sunshine, and I'm touched by your situation! My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
What a heart-wrender... renders my heart mush... so sorry, Bernice. Perhaps there's a resurrection for the shoes that they are burried in-- there must be... who can fill them? --Charlie
A Beautifully written Heartfelt piece
stay by his side and make his last days comfortable
some say cry not when he leaves
For he'll be at peace
I can't say that, for each person is an Island of it's own
All I have left is the Memories and love of those
that brought me into this world
Love, peace prayers be with you both
Sometimes the hardest part of letting go is acceptance that it is really over. We tend to wait and stall hoping for a last minute retrieve and that seems to be the heart of this painful but real write.

It's alright to cry B, you don't have to say goodbye though, this is up to you, love ones never leave us, they will visit in our dreams and live in our memory. Great verse in reference, hugs and B strong. :-)

Having lost my own father, this brought tears to my eyes. As I'm sure others that have. But if your father is still here, love him while you can. My prayers are with you, Bernice.

You and your family will be in my prayers. Deborah
Dear Bernice,
The tears flow as my heart breaks for you. My dear dad has passed and there's such a large empty place that he use to be filled with laughter and so much love. Prepare yourself my friend. Then again I doubt no matter how much we try if we are really ever prepared. My prayers are with you both.
Love,
Marcia
Saying good-bye is incredibly difficult! I didn't have the chance to say good-bye to my mom or to even talk to her before she passed away. I have, so many times, wished that I had hopped on a plane and flown home when I heard that she had collapsed. 18 hours later she was gone... If only I had thought to try and call the hospital...maybe I wouldn't have been able to speak to her, but maybe I would have been able to... I will never know, but sometimes it still haunts me... and I miss her. My family doesn't often express love in words, but I wish that I had been able to tell her one last time that I love her...
Guess that was kinda personal... sorry...
My poem, Answering the Call, talks about traveling the journey your father is on...
Hugs to you, Bernice...
Remember, good-byes aren't forever.
This is one of the hardest things to do. To say good bye to an ailing parent. Just know one thing, His spirit will always live on in your heart and soul. He will not be very far, my dear one.
Much peace, love, and light to you and your sweet daddy,
Amber "V"
The anguish in seeing a loved one in such distress brings tears to my eyes and I pray along with you for your dear dad. There are no goodbyes for we will all meet again in heaven.
