I dreamt of walking alone in a forest at midnight.
On a winding haunted lane, I traverse this night.
I hear rustlings in the branches of the twisted trees.
I sense, more than hear, the moan of the breeze.
I make my way through a dark spirit-infested bog.
The road vanishes from sight into the spooky fog
only to reappear again on my left, then my right.
It seems to be enjoying itself, giving me this fright.
An owl hoots a low mournful cry, unsettling me more.
In front of me suddenly, I see a house and its door.
I turn the handle, I hear it creaking open for me.
Should I go further...what surprises will there be?
I see the faint outlines of furniture and sheets.
Like Halloween, I wonder, is thisTricks or is it Treats?
Right then I woke up, I don't know the why or the how.
What I might have seen then, I will never know now.
