There! An aura of a spell that was cast
long before the summer’s last.
Now formless images take sudden flight,
Among the ghostly shades of a wintry midnight.
The spectral shadows of a cold, hard moon,
that once shone so warm in May and June,
shines down with its weakening glare
full of hate and malice in its stare.
It shines upon the evil witch's spell
that flies out from her like a bat from hell.
She’s an ugly caricature of an old stereotype-
the one that’s been used in all that Halloween hype.
Evil and jealousy twisted a once fine face
as hate and revenge took away her lovely grace.
Now alone in a deep dark wood
Dressed in a black cape and a hood.
She stands in a clearing of her own making
All good and kindness, she is forsaking.
For the chance of ending her rival’s life…
and the thought of ‘her’ as his wife.
She stands before the fire now
the results of dark desire on her brow.
A lightening strike and a flash of light
takes all the darkness out of the night.
Standing alone, defeated in the dark, damp wood
She realizes, in the end, the winner is always Good.

P.S. I saved the art work. Is it ok to use it on one of my songs? Please tell me. Bill

This is book 2 of my new fantasy trilogy, The Twins of Moon. As Quimbre warns Eefa, 'No world is more riddled with secrets than the eldritch waters we now blithely sail.' Here in the Sea of Stars the twins discover their extraordinary true destiny.
In 2000, Todd Cheney set out to write a complete fantasy series. Now, almost five years later, his goal is accomplished. The Soulstone will bring to conclusion the story began in The Seventh Circle.
