Oft she comes at the end of day
when the clouds are turning blue and pink.
Stepping softly in the garden,
she stops to look and smile my way.
It is when the stars start to peek out
from the bright coverlet they have been lying under
and when the birds begin to settle down
and true dark has yet to come about.
For when daylight fades and the dark blue
of twilight begins to glide slowly across the countryside,
she is there to greet the stars and pay homage
to the night and plays in the garden dew.
Gently and quietly moving in the grass,
unware of those who watch and wait for her
at the end of the day in hopes of seeing her
once more, she glides slowly pass.
(If you guessed the Moon, you are right.)
