Of Flowers, Birds, and Mothers Fair

Of Flowers, Birds, and Mothers Fair...


She stands there with her jumbled hair--
the broken tumbleweeds and grass
giving her locks an earthy flair;

but one that resonates with class
instead of looking just a mess--
she catches looks from those who pass.

She carries herself with finesse--
Her gently curving arms on hips
that swirl in their copper dress.

The autumn colors hide her lips
which wore the shade of summer’s words
and touched my heart like fingertips.

But fleeting moments, like the birds,
have flown now to another sphere
where lines between the worlds are blurred

as new flowers emerge each year
to act as nature’s healing balm.
It dries my tears to see you here--

Your presence is a calming psalm.

Absolutely beautiful, Cryssa, not like the ugly side of Spring we saw today - severe storms, even a funnel cloud! This much nicer, calms the soul to read/see it. Well done.

Rich and beautifully composed! We've been knee deep in soil, planting, turning, laughing like muddy children, this is a sweet nightcap after all our work in the gardens!

Oh, absolutely fabulous, Crys! This is my favorite part:
