There were others but that's another story.

I Couldn’t Say Pasketties

I couldn’t say pasketties no matter how hard I tried.
If somebody asked me to, I would down right lie.
I’d say, “I can say it, but don’t want to right now.”
For years I got away with it, as long as time allowed.

But as I grew much older my younger charm didn’t work.
When I came out with pasketties, they noticed my strange quirk.
They’d laugh at me and make fun of the way I said the word.
I didn’t enjoy being laughed at, I felt the whole thing absurd.

So I kept my trap shut, especially around that group,
Even if it I didn’t like it, I always asked for soup.
After all those years, I finally learned to say that word.
But now I find I can not spell it, now isn’t that absurd.

LOL! Karen would say, Pasketti. I'd correct her, "No, it's BA-sketti." Mom would say, "You're both wrong, it's spaghetti." LOL, thanks for the delicious treat in verse!
