Our babies are so dear and we hate to see anyone hurt them, even doctors. But sometimes it has to be done when shots are needed!

Oh! FORGOT TO TELL YOU, TOMMY HAD A SPEECH IMPEDIMENT! HE WAS ONLY TWO!

Doctors Shouldn’t Lie!

I’ve always believed in telling my children the truth.
Even when it didn’t seem important or seemed to be aloof.
So whenever they were going to the Doctors to get an exam.
I always told them if they were getting a shot, that’s just how I am.

So one day my little two year old was to go for his six month check.
I told him he had all his shots, in fact, I would have made an honest bet.
But when we got there, the Doctor said, he needed one for the mumps.
You should have seen the look I got from him during his hops and jumps.

“Tommy,” the doctor said, “I’ll put ice on it and it won’t hurt a bit.”
So the Doctor got a baggie of ice and put it right where Tommy sits.
Five minutes later, the Doctor asked Tommy if he thought it was ready.
Of course Tommy said a loud, “NO,” then reached for his little teddy.

The doctor didn’t make that mistake again when he re-entered the room.
Tommy grabbed my hand real tight and gave me a look of doom & gloom.
The Doc pulled Tommy’s undies down and rammed the needle into his butt.
Tommy was jumpin, sputterin & YELLIN, “DOC I HATE YOUR DUTZ.”

ha, ha, ha...
We had to have our daughter leave the room when her younger sister got shots or she would grab the nurse's arm and not let her give the shot. And... I must agree... I HATE needles!!!

Smiling but also agree that Docs shouldn't mislead children that needles don't hurt when they do, I am 54 and still fear needles.

I hate needles myself, but with my condition, unfortunately they are a routine part of my life, so I can imagine how your little boy felt, thank you for sharing

Bonnie you have such a refreshing sense of humor, enjoyed the poem much. I always told my sons if anything was going to hurt, of course in matters of love, they didn't believe me!

It's such a big deal for them, isn't it? Don't we laugh when we look back?

I think Docs should be on the receiving END. :) HATE it when they tell you something isn't going to hurt: they're right, it doesn't hurt THEM a bit, while you're being peeled off the ceiling .... Well done, Bonnie! But what's a DUTZ? LOL

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
