A Storm Never Forgotten!
On one New Years Eve many years ago, we went out with some friends.
All dressed up in our fine duds, no boots & no worry about weather trends.
We had a ball and were glad we went while our parents watched our little ones.
We had three precious small children, one little daughter and two tiny sons.
But when we left the party, there was a huge blizzard outside.
We certainly weren’t prepared for it, as we were going on this ride.
We were slippin and sliding & we were all over the icy street.
It was snowin and blowin, we half expected it to begin to sleet.
But my husband was entirely confident as we continued on our way.
He even picked up stranded people who were stuck in their stay.
Dropping them off, he took a turn where we didn’t see a bit of snow.
He said, “See it pays to be kind to others,” as he started to drive real slow.
For down the hill in front of us was an ocean of snow across the road.
But he decided to drive straight through it, to get to his parents abode.
We had no chains & no shovels, unprepared for this storms violent attack.
So right in the middle we got stuck, we couldn’t go forward or back.
“We have to walk,” he said, its not too far, we’ll make it you will see.”
However, I had such a tight long skirt on, and the snow was taller than me.
He plowed a path and pulled me along as he gallantly plowed through.
I said, “Leave me here and forget me,” I’m not as strong as you!
He wouldn’t give up and kept dragging me along through the snow.
All I wanted was a good warm coat and I wanted him to let me go.
We finally made it to the other side, and our path to home was clear.
Oh, thank God we made it home safe as he poured A Gigantic Beer.
