Just something that was rolling around in my head and I decided to write it down.

Poem Artwork

How high

Do I need to go-

To fully escape

From your gravitational pull,

How high do I need to be-

To finally be free?

How low

Do I need to go-

Before I no longer

Feel you stepping on me,

How low do I need to be-

To feel this weight lifted off me?

How fast

Do I need to go-

To outrun your memory

That still haunts my dreams,

How fast do I need to be-

To no longer see you and me?

I have come to the realization

That there is no escaping-

These mortal chains

That connect me to you,

Because when I gave you my heart-

You refused to give it back.

A very measured, controlled and tight poem with deep implications. I like your use of repetition as well. Excellent.

This poem is a departure from your usual approach, but a bit more honest about what drives you to write poetry with the hope of filling that hole where your heart used to be.

That's a great picture of you. But I think that snow may be a rare occasion. Except in this rather wintry winter. We get snow rarely here in Houston, about every 10 years. Nothing this year so far. She wants to make snowballs.

Follow your dreams, but be careful not to break in the process. Over our heart and soul we have no command. Be mindful though, that in love communication is the key. You can’t truly know what is going on in someones head until you ask, eye to eye. That’s how me and my husband solve everything, we stop eachother in our steps and ask what is going on. Ten times out of ten, it is outer forces not related to us as a couple that is disturbing our peace. Sorry about the unsolicited advice. Seems like a personal question related to an issue close at hand. Occupational hazard of being a social worker. Great piece of writing, I think we can all relate. Check out my new poem that is directly inspired by this.

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone

I met Jerome on a busy city street in Baltimore, Maryland, when he was forty-five years old. On that particular day, I was out and about, enjoying a much-needed day off from work. I wanted to purchase a sukiyaki sub. I parked my car in an area of
