My good friend Ed is out of commission.
He is the hospital without any remission.
He's in there doing his thing.
While i'm out here not doing much of anything.
To be happy without him i'm not.
I just wish i wouldn't be such a sot.
I dream of him most nights.
And would go to him by the flights.
Then i would end my days of worry bout him..
His fiancee Rene has gone to see bout him.
She says to let you all know he is on the mend.
Slowly but surely', he'll come back again.|
To us on the den.

That i'm wishing the best for you two in life.
And that he'll come home without any strife.

It is difficult to say 'good-bye' to those we love. Part of the healing process, I believe, until that reunion, is to remember them here in many ways. Reading your poetry helps me, and no doubt many others, through the many loses we all endure. Thankyou for taking the time,Lois, to put your life into poetry. God uses that.
It is the simplicity that speaks volumes. Compact and concise. So many of us have forgotten the true meaning of the holiday when we should be celebrating a birthday. I do not know this author, but she strikes me as a devout Christian. Her love for life, God and people is evident in this terrific holiday treat. Thank you for sharing.
