Characters and situations v e r y loosely based on. . .'cet, 'cet. Ain' got a cat, ain' had a job that paid di--. . .er, much, in a long time. Woulda put in a dog, but couldn't work out the rhyme. Tryin' n o t to do hard labor.
Oh. Charlie horse is real. Right leg is prone. P l e a s e don't tell me what causes 'em. Enjoy! [i hope}

                          Don’t Ask
                                by
                          Avrige Joe

Alarm goes off and a charlie horse attacks.
Hobble to the bathroom, and the water’s cold.
“Convenience call” makes me trip over the cat.
Cat scratches me and I stub my sore toe.

Forgot to set Mr. Coffee.  No Cheerios on the shelf.
NO more lessons, if you please, I mutter.
Give mine to the ex Alexander Graham Bell.
Only present I’d like is some toast for my butter.

I would go back to bed, if I didn’t think
gremlins short-sheeted and sprinkled crumbs.
Note to self:  the whole day is going to stink.
To prove it, my cell phone goes on the bum.

At work, I summarize what happened.
“Charlie horse, he-he,” says the office clown.
Come within a hair of dope-slappin ‘im.
Oh, how I’d love to take him down.

The rest of my day goes all right,
don’t count Paperpush fires my ass.
Wasn’t so big,  I’d put out ‘er lights.
“Downsize this!” I’d say.  But with class..

Stand back if you tell me Life is a School.
That if I think about hooky, I’ll be toast.
Where was it I heard about a ship for fools?
More o'this, be on the horn with Alex’s ghost!.

lol. Downsizing? As an RN I always dreamed of being downsized. I would have loved it. in fact my body could use some downsizing. Outsourcing and downsizing suck. Excellent. Liz

I think we've all had those days...I had one recently that started about the same, except my charlie horse came in the middle of the night, or so I thought it was...after hopping across the floor making my way to the bathroom, and stumbling over my husband's shoe...took a quick bathroom run...and tried to be ever so quiet getting back in bed, didn't open my eyes too much so I could resume my deep sleep, just got comfortable and my leg relaxed when...wouldn't you know it the alarm clock went off! The day went down hill from there...but we all have them...thankfully they are few and far between except for the leg cramps, started drinking more orange juice, took care of that! Great write, one that we can all relate too...love it!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

I could not help but chuckle...which kinda hurt, cause laughing of any kind with broken ribs is bad juju...LOL.
You did an outstanding job of blending humor with confrontation in this piece...and the addition of that hysterical picture put icing on the cake!
