Brief summary of Ashley and Josh:
In December 2002 I wrote about Ashley and Josh Gleeson...who were reported missing on November 22, 2002. Ashley was 6 and Josh only 3. They were found in the Des Plains River in Illinois both shot by their father Patrick Gleeson who had kidnapped them. My good friend, Beth Boyer brought this to my attention for her neice Tracy took care of Ashley and Josh at her day care. Ashley and Josh's half sister Annie Gleeson 14, asked me to write another poem for her little half brother and sister. Annie, even thou time has passed I'm sure the pain lives on . God bless your family.
Annie, this one's for you...
Sometimes life throws a curve
Things happen we don't deserve
God only knows the reason why
Ashley and Josh had to die
Two beautiful angels adorn His throne
Their tiny tears are all gone
Our hearts cherish each memory
Ashley coloring by the TV
Josh asleep in his crib by the door
Dreaming of being by the oceans shore
Little Ashley swimming fast as she can
Josh sitting in a castle of sand
Snapshots of time engraved in our heart
Knowing death cannot keep us apart
I hear their laughter as the wind blows
I see their faces in a red rose
As I watch the rushing of the sea
I know they are watching over me
I cried reading the introduction- I'm sorry I couldn't read the poem..
Its stories like this- that made me stop reading and listening to the news..I raised my son alone after an abusive marriage, which was tumultuous (even during my pregnancy, no less) and I can't see the innocence of children - especially these two beautiful smiling cherubs..I know they live on as angels, and hope that will ease some of Annie's grief and survivor guilt..these are the littlest angels.
