Deep inside myself
So I can't feel
Scars on my heart
That will never heal
I hear the children play
Normal girls and boys
Perfect white houses
Room full of toys

Tear stained sheets
Draped on my bed
Sometimes I wish
That I was dead
Why do they hit me
Don't they see I am small
Does it make them feel big
Or stand ten feet tall

There's a special corner
Deep in my heart
That's where I hide
When the beatings start
I hold everything in
I don't dare let them see
The damage they do
When they're hurting me

I cover my bruises
Swallow my pride
Knowing with every blow
Part of me died
Scared of the shadows
Knowing I can't tell
Wishing someone would come
Rescue me from this hell

Reading this poem brought a tear to my eye (and that happens rarely in my crusty retired years). But it shouts out one of our shamefully hidden truths. Keep shouting, Linda.

This poem is exceptional and has an expressive quality that no one would be able to write unless one had been there themself. It is an excellent poem. Keep writing and God Bless!

"A Little Girl's Cry"
There is much strength in this write.
It is sad very sad child abuse needs to be eradicated!

Thank you for sharing hope you do not mind me to visit this older work. I do not recall ever visiting, however I had been here for years but was unable to log into my site until last summer so that could explain how I am just finding this site.

I happy to have found it and wish all the best to you, btw I like your blog also.

Very compassionate expression of such a sad, but unfortunately true subject! I don't think I will ever be able to understand how anyone could intentionally hurt another, especially a child! This soulful write has a very powerful impact!

Dear sweet Linda, your poetry and poems haven't lost any of its impact. You deliver always and tug at the heart of your readers; when
you write about those who suffer at the hands of others. I hope you are ok now. I miss you. Bill Murray

A very touching and moving poem - knocked me off my feet...life is too precious and too short for this to happen.

Linda,

That is such a powerful write. Personally, I feel that anyone who unjustly harms another human being, especially a child, should be tossed into the abyss. This really hit home hard. Thanks for sharing it with the world, and hopefully it may save someone’s soul and their life. Ever think about submitting it to the National Child Abuse Center? I am just beside myself as I stare at that fragile little human being, and realize the hell she must have endured. It is beyond reason why anyone would, or could do something like that. I say string him/her up, in the middle of town square, it will teach them a lesson, and maybe prevent someone else from being harmed. Thanks for your kind review.

Best of luck to you and yours,
Thomas

I have heard that parents beat their children because of frustration of themselves as a whole human. Personally? I just think they do it because they can and it makes them feel good to hurt the weak. Does that make them feel better? Probably, in the perversion which is their mind.

A poem I can relate too.
It has always torn me up to see a child abused in any way.

I'll never really understand how anyone can hurt something as precious and as pure as a child.

A very touching poem!
